KEYNOTE NETMECHANIC TOOLS KEY TO KEYRELEVANCE SEARCH ENGINE MARKETING

First, a few interesting facts: According to the Georgia Institute of Technology, more than 85 percent of Internet visitors use search engines to find information. Also, Jupiter Research reported that search engine use ranks as the second most popular Web activity after email. Yet despite the popularity of search engines, a 2002 Penn State study showed that more than half of searchers don't look past Page One of the search results. And only about 30 percent continue to Page Three. KeyRelevance uses Link Check to determine if a site has any broken links, while Load Time detects the sources of HTML "bloat" (such as inefficient HTML formatting and oversized multimedia effects) that lead to slow-loading pages. "We had a hotel chain customer that was having problems with its traffic analytics," explained Churchill. According to Churchill, analytics tracking codes were inadvertently deleted from the hotel chain's Web pages during a site redesign. Automated periodic testing by NetMechanic confirms that the codes are no longer being inadvertently removed.
